People come across certain things at certain times for reasons. This blog was intended for me to put my thoughts out there, mainly for myself. But, if someone besides myself benefits from my words, it makes it that much better. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy my silliness, my sarcasm, my vulnerability, and my tenderheartedness.
Have you ever gotten so caught up in your life that you tended to "miss the forest for the trees?" For a long time that's what I had done. And I think I missed out on a lot of blessings. And I finally woke up for a little while but here in the last few weeks I think I slipped back into that. My relationship with JL is still in its early stages even though we have been friends for almost 6 months now, it's moving slowly but it is progressing. Yesterday he unexpectedly came to see me on my lunch break and even though it was only for a few minutes I enjoyed it, very much.
A week ago, I made an attempt at trying to see where he wanted this to go but I choked and just couldn't get it out. So yesterday he brought it up again. I really couldn't say anything. When I walked into work thinking about why he possibly after a week brought it back up. The only thing though that I kept thinking was "Sam, why are you trying to label this so badly? Why does this relationship have to have a name?" Yes, it's very obvious that I'd love to and be honored to be his girlfriend. And I absolutely adore him. The innocence of the relationship and just being able to smile so big when he's around should be enough shouldn't it? Well, I didn't think so. Until yesterday. Yes, I'm tired of being alone. I want to snuggle and cuddle and be close with someone, him in particular. But what I didn't seem to grasp was, if that's where it will eventually be, God's gonna put it right where it's intended to be. It's just not meant to be that way right now. Or heck, maybe not ever. I don't know.
Something finally clicked yesterday that I hadn't taken the time to really look at, and that was to just be happy it is what it is. It is pretty selfish to ask for more right now. I just know that right now I am going to appreciate the little sweet compliments and the surprise lunch visits. Because honestly right now, I couldn't ask for more...
I previously posted a pro/con piece on Christianity and living that life. Well, as of recently I must post a retraction on one of those points I posted. Which was sexuality. At that time I was struggling with maintaining sexual purity. As time has passed I'm finding it much easier to not act on those desires that I still have. Yes, I still have the urge to want to have sex, and even have not so pure thoughts about it. However, I have done very well in not acting upon that. I've had opportunity after another to but I've resisted. And, I'm very proud of myself. As time progresses I'm sure those thoughts and desires will fade. As I have posted before, After 10 years of having it whenever I wanted, it's hard to give that up, even though I know that it is morally wrong.
Now that I am done with beating myself up here is the beauty of being pure physically and spiritually. Once I have found the person that God has sent for me to spend the rest of my life with, there's that surprise once you're married. You have no preconceived expectations on how you think that sex should be. It's exactly how God intended it to be. Being in a relationship that begins as a friendship and pursues God as its foundation, will most definitely be stronger and more stable in the long run. If a relationship is based only on sex, you're basically building your home on a beach, waiting for it to be washed away by the tide. It may be fulfilling physically and even emotionally, but only temporarily. Eventually one of the partners is going to get bored or tired with it. Then what do you have? Nothing at all. Please if you haven't taken the time to watch Jeff Bethke's video do it now. He explains this so much better than I could possibly.
Has America become the land of special interest and home of the
double standard? Let's see: If we lie to the Congress, it's a felony
and if Congress lies to us it's just politics. If we dislike a black person,
we're a racist and if a black dislikes whites, it's their 1st Amendment
right. The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and
they do almost nothing for the victims. In public schools you can teach
that homosexuality and lesbianism is ok, but you better not use the
word God in the process. You can murder a child in the mothers womb,
but it's wrong to execute a mass murderer. We don't burn books in
America, we now rewrite them. We got rid of the communist & socialist
threat by renaming them progressives. If you protest against Obama's
policies you're a terrorist, but if you burn an American flag or George
Bush in effigy, it's your 1st Amendment right.
You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not
put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas. In America,
criminals are now called sick people. The government takes money
from those who work hard & gives it to those who are lazy. Parenting
has been replaced with Ritalin & video games. The land of opportunity
is now the land of hand outs.
And how do we handle a major crisis today? The Government
appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens
them, passes a law, raises our taxes, then tells us the problem is
solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign.
First I will post the dictionary definition of both. Then discuss the differences.
Tolerance: The ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.
Acceptance : Favorable reception; approval. Belief in something; agreement.
So now that you have had the opportunity to read the technical definitions, take a moment to let that sink in. There really is a difference in the two words. You.re welcome to read the full definitions of the words but we will use these for the discussion.
Usually my posting topics are sparked by discussions I have with people on Facebook. And without going terribly deeply into what the discussion, the basic premise was a quote from Kirk Cameron's belief on homosexuality. Basically he was saying that he tolerated it because it is apart of the world. However, he chooses not to accept it because of his beliefs. Why can't people accept that? Christians are the most tolerant people you could ever meet. No, Christians don't accept a lot of things of this world. Because we aren't of this world. We lead totally different lifestyles from people of the secular world. And that is a choice. But we also have the choice to not accept things of the world. We know that for the most part we must tolerate things of the world because the world is where we live. It's like as of right now, I tolerate the fact that abortion is legal. However I refuse to accept that it is ok. Thus, that is why I am a staunch abolitionist. I am also tolerant of the homosexual lifestyle. However, it is also something I won't accept as ok. BUT I do accept a homosexual as a beautiful creation of God.
It honestly breaks my heart to see the Christian faith mocked, and belittled. I have had people so in my face about being tolerant. You must tolerate this, you must tolerate that. But what YOU don't seem to tolerate is the fact that I don't agree with you. People don't agree all the time. That's the beauty of being human. We can express those differences in opinions, that's the beauty of being an American. I can take this post and go so many different ways with it. I can go down the morality path and I can also go down the political path. but in doing that this could be forever long. I may actually break those two things down into two posts later on.
So, I think it's pretty obvious that God definitely is good! But usually we emphasize it when good things happen. Well, the reason I haven't posted in a whole while is because I have been orientating at my new job. Yes, I finally found another job with full time hours and really good pay. It's a bit of a drive from where I live now, but once I move, if I actually do, it will be shaved down to a twenty minute drive. Plus, wherever I may move in TN, they have facilities everywhere, so I could easily transfer if ever necessary. It is another nursing facility but I will be working the skilled unit so, I'll be able to work my skills a little more. Don't get me wrong, I love my little patients at the other facility. And I'm not totally leaving them, but as I said in an earlier post, sometimes it's time to move on. So, now that time has come. I can't bite the hand that fed me so to speak. I got IV certified at the other facility so it would be dirty to totally leave a week after they paid for that course for me. I most likely won't be working much less than I do now there, because I'm a workaholic.
Now, at this point I want to thank my two besties, Tricia and JL. They sat in just as much anticipation as I did and prayed heavily for me though this, and it worked out wonderfully. No one truly understands the power of prayer, until they do it. In the few months that JL and I have been friends he has been a true inspiration. He has taught me, whether he knows it or not, that I can be just as funny and silly without having a potty mouth. I can flirt and have fun without everything turning sexual. He and I finally met last week. And although it was a brief encounter, and I'm still checking my car for bugs (joke, he's an Orkin man.), I enjoyed it. It was very nice. And even though I had preferred my kids not be with us the first time, they were. And seemed to like him pretty well. That for sure doesn't mean that's how it's always going to work because I'd like to get to know him better before the kids get tied in. That includes his little punkin, even though he's only 5 months old. I did it right once before. And even though J and I both have moved on, he will always be a model and a reminder. I will always model my future relationships with men from my relationship with him. The relationship itself may not have worked, but the method did. Of course, accommodating for an obviously different personality.
The last couple of weeks have been absolutely amazing. I inserted God back into my life, and have began to surround myself with like-minded Christians. Anyone who has told you that God isn't real, or God doesn't answer prayer, please don't listen to them. God does things in HIS time. Not ours. It took me so long to finally grasp that concept again. I was so hard on myself and so down that I honestly couldn't see how God could pull me out. But I learned that once I truly just let go and let God do His thing, things finally fell into place. Sometimes when we feel like we are as weak as we could possibly be, we have to stop and think, as silly as it may seem, that maybe we are being too strong. We can't do things on our own. We can't face the world by ourselves. That's why we have to "Let go and let God." He knows what's best for us.
If anyone reading this is in need of prayer please feel free to shoot me a message. You don't have to tell me what you need prayer for but that you are in need. I have a strong team of prayer warriors that would be happy to pray for you. Good night and God Bless! :)
Over the last 2 days I have gone into Susan G Komen-Planned Parenthood overload. It's swelled on Facebook, the news, it's everywhere, you can't avoid it. Today Nancy Brinkler backpeddaled a bit. They said that they weren't withdrawing funding from Planned Parenthood. What the heck does that mean? So are they stopping giving money for pretend mammograms and boob fondling or not. It's that simple. Either they're going to continue giving Planned Parenthood grants, or they're not. So, basically my hesitance to support Komen was very much warranted. I'm curious how hard it is to just come out and say yes, we quit funding them or now we didn't. Planned Parenthood's mass hysteria they have caused could go either way. Now one of two things happened. Either Komen threatened to cut funding and PP basically smeared their name for even entertaining the idea. Or they did actually cut the funding and Planned Parenthood basically released a warning to their other donors that they better not even try. Because by what I have heard there are other organizations that have either already or are considering pulling funding. Planned Parenthood is a down right bully.
There are a lot of people throwing around the political aspect of all this and Komen's new very conservative pro-life vice president. And are using that as an excuse to say that is what caused Komen's decision. Well, I think I mentioned it in my last post but Planned Parenthood has many political ties as well. I mentioned that Cecile Richards has Nancy Pelosi's full backing, due to her being Richards' former employer. Again, I will continue to hold off on my full support for Susan G Komen until this mess is sorted out.
I'm sure in the last 24 hours the news has spread that The Susan G Komen foundation has chosen to cut ties with Planned Parenthood. At least temporarily. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the federal investigation Planned Parenthood is under and I'd safely say SGK doesn't want to be dragged through the mud with PP. Now, as a pro-life individual, I'd naturally be jumping for joy right? Well, cautiously. The reason I say cautiously is because SGK hasn't said they don't still support PP, they have only stopped donations. I personally would like to see SGK admit that PP spent their money on abortions. All the breast cancer screening claims are exactly that. The news stories that I have read have reported that not one single PP has a mammogram machine. If I recall correctly, isn't that the test that acurately diagnoses breast cancer? Smooshing around on your boobies isn't going to diagnose anything, plus you can do that yourself. So, basically SGK was giving PP money for doctors to fondle your breasts only to, if they actually found something suspicious, refer you to a REAL doctor that would provide you with a mammogram. Now, I'm far from a rocket scientist but I hardly think it takes one to figure out that, if someone is so poor that they can't afford to go anywhere but Planned Parenthood, doesn't that mean they most likely can't afford to go to the doctor they just referred them to for a mammogram? OR could that possibly mean that there actually are clinics out there that provide medical care for low-income individuals? OMG what a concept!
This is only one topic I have touched on with that vile corporation. Yes, I referred to them as a corporation. They are far from any kind of non-profit organization I have ever seen..People have wanted to sling mud over the course of the last day. Bringing up the higher ups salaries at SGK, and yes, some of them are a bit ridiculous. Well, hello kettle, but your Butcher in Chief, Cecile Richards' salary goes way above $300,000 per year. If she cared so much about women, why is she accepting such a big salary? Why isn't she letting this money go back to those needy women she claims her company helps? OH by the way, she used to work for Princess Nancy Pelosi. Kinda tells you what kind of person she actually is. It's also funny that no matter where I look I can't figure out what kind of degree she has, only that she graduated from Brown University. I figure it's safe to say that her degree is probably has something to do with politics.
In conclusion, I stand with Susan G Komen temporarily. I will wait and see how all this pans out. I'm not planning to organize any walks or planning any kind of donations at this time just yet. Although, I still wish Susan G Komen will see what kind of crappy company PP actually is, their money isn't being funneled to PP for abortions. And right now, I'm satisfied with just that.
